A
New Star For Lonhro!
Tuesday,
19 January 2010: Tasmania has
a new star after the stunning debut at Tattersall's
Park on Sunday of impeccably bred Lonhro two-year-old
filly Beau Vallon.
Beau
Vallon gave a star-studded field of juveniles a galloping
lesson on her way to an effortless 6-1/2 length win
in the SuperVobis 2YO Handicap.
The
opposition included Alexandra Plate winner Destiana
and Alfa Bowl winner Royal Miswaki and while they
both conceded weight to Beau Vallon it was the way
the Charlie Goggin-trained filly treated her rivals
with contempt that left an indelible impression.
Beau
Vallon went into her race debut on the back of two
impressive trial wins but the question was whether
she would handle race day pressure.
The
filly coped easily as when jockey David Pires gave
her more rein she found another gear and left her
rivals in her wake.
The
filly hit the line 6-1/2 lengths clear of Destiana
with first-starter Tough Diamond 1-1/2 lengths astern
and just in advance of Radha Rani.
Beau
Vallon is from the Palace Music mare Eve In Seychelles,
who was purchased by prominent Tasmanian owner-breeder
Terry Clarke at a dispersal sale in Melbourne for
$45,000 and in foal to Lonhro with Beau Vallon the
outcome of that pregnancy.
The
filly was put through the Melbourne yearling sale
by Clarke took her home when she failed to attract
a bid.
"I
opted to syndicate the filly out to a few friends
and here we are today with a very nice filly that
could be anything," Clarke said.
Trainer
Charlie Goggin was ecstatic with the win.
"She's
handled the pressure well and pretty much did on racer
day what she's done at the trials and that is very
pleasing," Goggin said.
